Winter Sitrep

Hello folks! Well here we are in November already and yes we’re still waiting for the “Equilibrium” EP to be born… here’s the latest;
Rich Mouser is currently on tour with Steve Hackett but he has told me that he’s working on our mixes on his days off! That’s pretty cool eh? I’ve asked him to try and recruit Mr Hackett for a guest appearance on the album. You never know eh?

Ah yes, album. So we’ve decided to begin production on “Persevere” so that’s happening…

In addition to all that, I’ve pretty much finished writing the album after that and it will be called “The Sysiphus Parallel” so we’re all being far from idle.

The photo above is of Pete and Sam in front of the Legislative building in Toronto last month. Rush fans might recognise the location. Sam is primed and ready to contribute on the coming album so that’s exciting.

I’m chatting up a few other guests currently so the roster of talent is growing while we wait for the EP to be completed.

Sorry it’s taking so long, but we assure you it will be worth the wait!

Thank you for your patience, and remember to relax… nothing really matters anyway!

Cheers, Pete, Alan and Steve.

Summer Sitrep

Hello Apecateers!

With great happiness, I can tell you that final edits have been submitted to Rich Mouser in his new studio and our EP “Equilibrium” will be mixed and signed off by the end of August. Then it will be off for mastering in early September.

So we’re looking at a release date in October.

The wait is nearly over folks. All our love and effort will be available for you to hear very soon.

So relax; nothing really matters anyway...

Cheers,
Pete, Alan and Steve.

Happy New Year...

Well, that’s what we all wanted to say, but 2025 has barely begun and another catastrophe has befallen us.

During the terrible wildfires in Los Angeles, Rich Mouser’s studio - The Mouse House - has burned to the ground.

Fortunately Rich and his family are safe and well, but his home and workplace are gone.

Obviously this means further delay in our plans to release our EP, “Equilibrium”, despite the fact that Rich managed to grab our hard drive while evacuating for which we are all immensely grateful and utterly surprised. He is currently sorting out a base of operations and new equipment and he assures us that the show will go on.

The other disaster seems almost insignificant in comparison, but here it is anyway. Pete suffered second degree burns to his left hand in an accident involving a wood stove and cramp. Medical advice seems to be of the opinion that he will be able to resume playing two handed instruments by February so not a big deal really.

Anyway… we do hope your 2025 has been better than ours so far and although the wait for the EP goes on, it will be all the sweeter when it’s finally here.

Cheers,
Team Ape.

Winter sitrep

Here's the thing about working with really talented people...

Other people want to work with them too...famous people, talented people...

We at Frustrated Ape recognise that we are not really any of these things tbh ;-).   So sometimes you just have to wait your turn in the queue.

Happily, the calendars of Steven Leavitt, Rich Mouser and Jimmy Keegan aligned on the 19th of November and Pete was lucky enough to join in video link to a drum tracking session for a song which will appear on the forthcoming album...

Yes, album!

Obviously the E.P has not been born yet but we at Frustrated Ape plan a large family, so whilst we had Jimmy we decided to add some flourish to make the E.P even better.

Everything has now been handed over to Rich Mouser and final choices for mixing the E.P have been made.

This is happening now. That means the E.P will absolutely, definitely and unequivocally be finished very soon.

We are going to have Maor Appelbaum master it as soon as he is free.

Then it will be yours to listen to and on behalf of Pete, Alan and Steve (as well as all the other amazing contributors) we really can't wait for you to hear it.

Thank-you for your patience while we do the best to give you the best we can do.

Festive Greetings from the Apes.

24th September 2024

An update...

Steven Leavitt here... Pete asked me to give you an update after we went dark for a brief period, due to no slacking on our end in spite of some of the most daunting of times (it seems to be going around)…

I’m excited to announce that we have just handed off the tracks for the Frustrated Ape EP to Rich Mouser for mixing.

By my calculations we are on track to complete the Frustrated Ape EP approximately 88% faster than the debut Lobate Scarp album Time and Space. That means we should be ready to announce that we’re taking pre-orders within the next 6 weeks.

Stay tuned! We’re having an epic amount of fun on this and hope to let you in on more sneak peaks coming up.

Meanwhile sign the mailing list… follow Frustrated Ape at all the @s and relax, nothing really matters anyway.

August 2024

Sitrep...

Yes, the E.P. was supposed to be out by now… life is a slippery serpent sometimes and we’ve all experienced a concentration of venomous bites this year.

But with love, excitement and an unyielding sense of fun, we are marching on towards the fruition of our dreams.

Steve Leavitt will be handing our tracks to Rich Mouser imminently and he will imbue them with his unique audio magic (and play guitar on one song), then mastering, cd manufacture and then…

RELEASE!!

We hope to have our first single available next month with the full E.P. soon after.

Your patience will be fully rewarded. That’s a promise.

Cheers,

Pete and Alan

Relax! Nothing really matters anyway...

June 2024

Sitrep...

Production of our long awaited E.P. continues both here in Scotland and far away in California. Most recently, via a remote recording session with Steve Leavitt, Alan’s backing vocals for “This Quixotic Life” were completed and will blend perfectly with those already recorded by Steve, Adam Sears and Pete.

Soon, everything will be sent to Rich Mouser at the Mouse House studio for mixing.

Due to 2024 being an extremely cruel year to most of us so far, it’s all taking longer than anticipated to put together, but we refuse to take shortcuts or to compromise quality so it’s going to take as long as it takes.

Hopefully we will have our debut single ready by September with the E.P. dropping in October. Your patience is appreciated and we all know that the finished product will be well worth the wait.

Stay tuned for updates, additional silliness on the website, and the sending of our inaugural e-mailshot.

Cheers, Pete & Alan 🦍

Ape goes on a plane

Pete's been on a trip to some studios in other country.  Lucky Ape!  It was in another timezone. On another level. Did he return in one piece? Where did he go? Did he come back with anything?  Find out soon...right here...
